I read obsessively. Sometimes it occurs to me that I could accomplish so much more if only I didn't love to read. But, think of all the reading I'd miss out on! I read an average of 75 books a year. I also love to hike and watch movies. Plus, I walk for an hour every day and listen to an audio book. I began reading at age 4 and started... more »

    Hi cd,
Glad to hear you are loving your Kindle. My husband said he talked to Santa & I'll be getting one for christmas. I am so excited and yet privately mourning my paper books. It's like I want to devour every book I can. But, I am also excited about the Kindle. I don't really listen to audio books, (although I have on occassion, like on long road trips) But I am always thinking thats is something I'd like to get into. So many books: audio, paper, kindle & so little time!

PS: Love your intro, very funny.

That IS a good deal! I haven't decided yet if I'm going to go Kindle or Sony. I currently have a little Palm device which I love to read on. :)

    Hi CD,

Have you read The Other. I listened to the author on NPR today and sounded like a great book, but reviews are pretty bad.

I hope you will take the time to view my YouTube book trailer at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=q-t0K34iU6g. I am doing some research about potential characters to play the lead role in the upcoming movie. Hope you can help me out. As Ralph Eggleston Director/Production Designer of Pixar Animation Studios said,
"I LOVED the book! It's a missing, ENDLESSLY fascinating link to the history of Hollywood. Thank you for researching and writing it!! I hope it's been widely well received, as it deserves to be." Best wishes. Gaelyn

    Hi ,
Ma'am , I have been out of circuit for a long time - I was not getting enough time and was too busy in the daily grinds of Life. Anway I have two books to recommend.
    1. Gatherings by Anne Enwright
    2. Sophie's World
Go through it , you may find interesting
The gathering got the booker prize 2007 . It dealt with the complexities of human behaviour. It should be savoured and relished, surely not to be treated like fast food staff.

Sophie's world is in a different genre ,it deals with philoshy , the writing is very lucid and you simply flow with it. It explains sophism ,deals with Socrates and Platos and . You will have a deeper undestanding of life and 3000 thousands years of human evolution in terms of society

I saw your "tag" on the Apocalypse group (sounds ominous...). Anyway, one audio book that came out wonderful and is post-apoctolyptic was CALIFIA'S DAUGHTER(S) - not sure if it was plural. Anyway, great listen and engrossing story set in a possible future northern CA.

    Hi cdbooks!
I've just tagged you on the Apocalypse Lover's discussion post called Group Game: TAG & TELL: I'd Like to Know You Better
Now it's your turn to respond to the questions and tag someone else in the group. (If I can figure out the next step, my questions should be there!
    Thanks!

    Hi, Claire -
I loved "Pocketful of Names", too. The other book of his that I've read is "Beachcombing for a Ship- wrecked God." I loved it, too.
"Not as a Stranger" is really old, but a goodie. On the strength of the author, and your recommendation, I'm putting it on my search list. Thanks again! - Sue

Hi, cdbooks! Thank you SO MUCH! I've been trying to think of Joe Coomer's name, or the title of two of his books, to no avail. Nobody else seemed to have them. I read 'Pocketful of Names" and loved it. Also another book about 3 women living on a boat moored somewhere near the East Coast. The irritating thing is, I had an index card with his name and several of his novels to get and read, and it's missing. Thanks again!

Run - do not walk - and start the Dunnetts. Don't get the Niccolo series first, get the Lymonds. I've got the first one on my shelf (The Game of Kings) if you want to check it out. These are a tougher read than Outlander and need to be read in order and more actively because it's a little more complex. The heroines would've gotten along very wel...but it's not til the third book that it's established who the heroine is. The Niccolo series and the Lymond series are connected, but meet Francis Crawford first.
