The Paternity Proposition by Merline Lovelace, Harlequin Desire, March 2012
A few weeks ago a baby was left on Delilah Dalton’s doorstep. With a note only indicating the baby’s name and that this was Delilah’s granddaughter. But not naming which of her twin son’s fathered the little girl. And because Alex and Blake are twins the DNA tests were only 75% accurate. So the father is still unknown. The only way to know 100% is to find the mother and get her to submit to a DNA test. One of the last women on Alex Dalton’s list is Julie Bartlett. Julie can’t believe that Alex would actually think her capable of abandoning her child and won’t give him a DNA sample. When he comes back with a business proposition she can’t refuse outright because she has partners in her crop spraying business. So she agrees to spend a week in Oklahoma City getting to know Alex and baby Molly in exchange for Agro-Air getting Dalton International backing. Alex also won’t badger Julie for a DNA sample and he won’t try an obtain one behind her back.
I thought this was a story was some originality to it making it a winner. Julie also had no trouble standing up to Delilah, and with Delilah’s standing in the community she tended to run roughshod over people. Julie also had no problem dealing with a scorned ex-girlfriend of Alex’s and her snarky remarks.

Harres Aal Shalaan plans on freeing T. J Burke from a kidnapping because T. J has information that could harm the Aal Shalann family. But the person he rescues is actually Talia Jasmine posing as her brother. She believes her brother was wrongly accused and the Aal Shalaan family imprisoned him without cause and therefore hates all of the Aal Shalaan family. Now Harres has to convince her that they have a future together.
This book was very descriptive. I felt the love these two had for each other leap off the page. By making Talia a doctor, the author incorporated her knowledge of the medical field.

He'd noticed her across a crowded room, and in that instant Sheikh Shaheen Aal Shalaan wanted her. With just a few words, Shaheen had his mystery woman in his bed, where she awakened passions he'd long denied.
Then the sheikh discovered his lover's true identity. She was Johara, his childhood friend, now fully blossomed into a vision he could not do without. But his lineage demanded he take a wife of the throne's choosing. Anything else would have catastrophic results. Yet how could he turn away from the woman who carried his baby?

This book is written with the same intensity and passion as are all Ms. Gates’s books. Her description of scenes, characters and settings were so vivid that I could visualize them. We had a hero that would give up anything for love and a very self sacrificing heroine. I love the direction the Desires are taking lately. It has the hero realizing and admitting to himself that he has fallen in love with the heroine and is the one to convince her.

  • A Forbidden Affair (Harlequin Desire)

Yvonne Lindsay takes us on a very passionate journey to New Zealand into the world of wine distribution. After a disagreement with her family, Nicole Wilson heads to a nightclub. There she meets Nate Hunter. Instantly there is an attraction there. She is the enemy’s daughter. Revenge will be sweet. After their wild weekend together he basically blackmails her- she will work for him or her family will learn of the affair. It’s always fun watching a hero have some major groveling to do to when he realizes the true nature of his feelings. From what I gathered she was a strong heroine before Nate and eventually took her life back.

The Desire line by Harlequin is categorized as passion and the passion just oozed off the page in this book. The hero, Prince Amjad Aal Shalaan was very cynical (his wife slowly tried to kill him with poison). Some even called him mad. But Princess Maram wasn’t intimated by him. I greatly admired her as a strong heroine. These two both had a sarcastic sense of humour that made this book highly amusing. I could feel the sexual tension leaping off the page. I have never been disappointed by a book by Olivia Gates.

This was a very sensual read. I always enjoy watching an author evolve, and it’s doubly enjoyable when it’s a favourite author, so I really enjoyed watching Olivia Gates spread her writing wings. From her sweet Medical romance to the edge of your seat Silhouette Bombshells, her yummy Silhouette/Harlequin Desires, to the paranormal genre with a Nocturne Bite and now with the steamy paranormal Nocturne Craving. Like with most of her books, her characters are willing to pay the ultimate sacrifice. The characters were passionate about each other, willing to die for each other. I also enjoy a story where the plot isn’t given away too soon and this is such a book. For being a shorter book, Ms. Gates managed to tell the story in great detail. I look forward to more stories from her in any genre.

Ms. Cornelison has a definitely wrote a winner here. This had the perfect blend of suspense and love in it for me . This was my firs read by this author but won't be making it my last. This book is the first in a series about three sisters, the Bancrofts. I felt Matt was open and honest with Holly except for one key thing, but I think this was more to protect Holly from hurt. Matt did feel remorse for keeping this thing from Holly.

Kamal goes from brutal to passionate to sincere. His atonement gesture nearly melted me. Aliyah was sharp tongued and had a come back for everything. She was his equal and made the perfect queen to sit beside him on the throne. Since this is book three in a series about three brother there is no way to choose a favourite brother. All three processed individual characteristics that had the power to bring a woman to her knees. But I do think Aliyah was my favourite h.

This was an emotional tale. Diana Palmer also wrote about different romances that were occuring in the book and not just the hero and herione. Diana Palmer did a great job summarizing all the lives of everyone in the book so the reader is not left wondering what happened to so and so.
