I'm a reference librarian at the Twinsburg Public Library. I'll read just about anything, but my favorite genres are chick lit, suspense, literary novels, fantasy/science fiction, memoir, gender/relationship studies, essays, and short stories.

Thanks so much...cb1281! I really do hope you like my book, please let me know if you do and SAY ABSOLUTELY NOTHING if you don't. I am working on one right now, a very different story which I hope to have done in several months, rather than years. We'll see what happens with that one. If you like my book, please spread the love! They only let you publish if you sell, unfortunately, so I'll do whatever I need to do to sell in Twinsburg. if you throw a party and invite me up, I'll come, I'll read, I'll sign, I'll sing and I'll dance and I'll tell story after story. Thanks so much for publically acknowledging my debut novel. I really appreciate it. And I am not kidding, you throw a book party, I'm there! May our paths cross in person one day.

I'm only about 100 pages into The Help but I really like it. It took me all this time to get it :)

My boss's 15 year old daughter recommended Thirteen Reasons Why, and she's got a good track records on recommendations. She gave me Coraline a year or so ago and it was amazing. So many books I want to read and so many people giving me books like an agent just gave me a bio on Robert E. Lee and a co-worker gave me Life of Pi. Did Katherine give any interesting tidbits about Deliverance Dane or hints on future books?

That sounds like it could be a lot of fun and very interesting. Let me know how that chat goes.

Getting the kids to sign up for a skype chat with a YA author is on my list of projects. I'll let you know how The Help is. I should probably reserve it now :)

I'm in two book clubs - one for YA and one the other is general. we alternate selections. Next up for YA is Jellicoe Road. Have you read that one. The other is The Help. I also want to try to read the new Audrey Niffenegger this month.

Everyone I've talked to about that book raves about it. I will have to check it out. I have it in the school's library. How is the sequel? Did you finish it already? I preordered that for the school and am waiting for it.

I'm in a reading rut. I picked it up a couple of times but then put it down. I have a whole pile I've done that with. It does look really good though. Do you recommend anything?

I just finished Retail Hell. I picked up the galley at BEA and it was one of the funniest memoirs I've ever read. It is along the lines of Waiter Rant or Free for All - an insider's view to working retail. You have to add it to your TBR pile!

I see you finished In the Land of Invented Languages while I was away on vacation. What'd you think?

I live pretty close to NYC so I only go when it is there. Sometimes if ALA is in Philadelphia I'll drive down for the day. Those shows are so expensive and my school won't pay for me to go either.

I would love for you to read my books, FROM THUNDER TO BREAKFAST (Hube Yates stories), WIDOWHOOD HAPPENS and THERE'S SOMETHING ABOUT CAVE CREEK (It's The People). They are all nonfiction — pleasant, often humorous, sometimes historic, personal, and about fascinating characters. You know where to find them.
A good place to become acquainted with me is on www.auhorsden.com/ggarrison.

    Keep on reading!

If your'e doing more Stephen King - I woudl suggest Lisey's Story. I think you're more inclined to read the somewhat magical/supernatural versions than the scary stuff - so that one, Insomnia, and his alter ego's Talisman would probably suit you admirably!

Wow, you read a better mix of things than I do! Did you read "Nice to Come Home To" by Rebecca Flowers? She grew up in Medina County--might be a good author for you to get for your group!!! You're going to be sorry you ever met me--all these unsolicited suggestions! Sorry! I just love to hear authors speak, almost as much as I love to read.

    Cari,
Is this how you track your books of the year list? How does that work--I can't find a place to add a date.

I haven't heard the soundtrack other than in the movie theater. There were a couple of songs I was into. I may have to pick that up and download it onto my Ipod. I don't know if I could convince my friends to go see it a second time :(
