  • Blood & Sex, Volume 1: Michael
    • Rated 5 stars

BLOOD AND SEX, VOLUME 1: MICHAEL by Angela Cameron, is a book offering a pounding romance and enthralling suspense along a love of a vampire hero!

Michael is the first hero in this series set in Florida centering around Michael's club called The Fallen. As owner of this club, he assures the rules of Allenza, their vampire world, is followed, especially foremost, the protecting of humans. The heroine Tori is a detective pressed in resolving these eight killings by the an evil vampire called the Bay Gnasher. As Tori suspects that it involves a villain that goes against what this vampire world means, Tori enlists Michael's help in getting to that 'underworld'. That 'underworld' is with another club called The Scene that involves crimes against humans from these evil vampires. As Tori has a past with Michael, she's determined to keep her resolve to focus solely on solving this and keeping her wall of temptation up from Michael. Along with a past and a promise, Tori has a powerful pull and passion for Michael that is gives a fevered and romantic story.

BLOOD AND SEX, VOLUME 1: MICHAEL is an engrossing and breathtaking suspense and a romance that seizes the reader from beginning to end. Traveling the road with Michael and Tori was impressive and their relationship both and poignant and grew more and more as the story went on. Jonas, a secondary character, will be the hero in the next book who has secrets of his own about him. I'd have loved to have a bit of a dictionary that would help with some of the special terms used for the book. Similar that I've seen in those with the Cajun words. But as the story went on, I was able to grasp those terms better. With a theme of romance, suspense and paranormal, its a combination that makes for a great series.

  • To Sin With a Stranger

I really love the theme for this series of Seven Deadly Sins and how each of the seven characters, The Sinclair Brothers and Sisters, who were sent off to London by their father due to their ill behavior. They are getting by, by little money because their father is withholding their inheritance until they improve themselves and the Sinclair's name.. They each have a personality related to this theme of the Seven Deadly Sins which are, Lust, Gluttony, Greed, Sloth, Wrath, Envy and Pride. This first book is on the Marquess of Blackburn, Sterling who is considered to be cursed with 'Greed'. The heroine Isobel has her issues to deal with as well with her father since she is involved with charities to raise money for widows and children but has been involved in some scandals that upsets her father. An adventurous book with a wager made at Whites that they will marry, brings the two together in a seduction that made for a fun and romantic read! Its going to be great reading about each of the Brothers and Sisters stories to learn more about each of their curses and their romance! Only problem is we have to wait for each of the books! THE MOST WICKED OF SINS will be out September 29,2009. In the meantime, go check out this first book, greatly recommended!

    A Shameful Secret

    by Anne Ireland
    • Rated 5 stars

After two days of being unable to put this book down for anything, really nothing got done in this house, until I could get to the very end of A SHAMEFUL SECRET by Anne Ireland. Even as I write this, I feel tears welling up again, for I had shed some while reading this book. It was impossible not to get close to Hester and Paul. As Hester's secret in this story was such a torture for her emotionally and the feeling of lost of her whole life from it, was so unbearable at times, but so true tho from the time setting of this book, Regency. The setting of the book was so beautifully written. I could capture everything, the clothing, the dancing, the balls, the home and so much more. Author Anne Ireland has a writing voice that so pulled me in that I would lose myself to time and place, and be right within the book as the story unfolded. As Hester struggled with growing through trying to stop the years of punishment for her secret, you could too, touch the joy she was feeling by being with her friends and so much for her growing in love with Paul. Paul is a hero that you'd want to reach out and touch because he's so real. He was generous in his listening, in his sharing his emotions and love to Hester as well as giving her the independence to grow and make her own decisions. A protective hero he was, but Paul too was one that let Hester think and believe for herself.

This truly is one outstanding read that I can say has been the best Regency I have read this year. A SHAMEFUL SECRET by Anne Ireland is going to live within me for a long time, and its a beautiful thing. I highly recommend this book! It deserves to have all five stars.

  • Riding Wild
    • Rated 5 stars

I have just read an amazing read by Jaci Burton called RIDING WILD. To give a short review of what this books is about, Lily West is a private investigator, former police who is doing work to evaluate security at a museum. Mac is her first love that left her ten years ago without any reason or meaning. Mac’s a bad boy! He’s had a difficult upbringing that Lily believes nothing has changed in 10 years. After she finds him breaking into a museum, she gets caught in the middle and Mac is forced to take her along with him. Without having to give more details of the story, GO READ IT! The sexual tension between Mac and Lily steams off the pages from the very beginning when Lily recalls their relationship in the prior years. As Mac takes Lily on a wild ride trying to lose those who are following them and getting the stolen virus into safe hands. Mac is keeping details from Lily to protect himself and Lily will not give up and so hard tries not to fall for Mac again. I was captivated to the pages of this book! As a reader, I was feeling I was in Lily’s place so many times. This author Jaci Burton has a excellent writing voice that gives you so much visual and sensual connection that you will feel you are right there along with them. Gosh, I don’t know how to say this any other way, but I was panting along with Lily. The suspense was so intense, so real, as their love was for each other, that you’ll be visualizing it as a movie you are watching. This should be your first erotic romance suspense book to read this year, darn your book to read right now! Its been two days since I finished the book and I’m picturing scenes and feeling them just as intense when I was reading it.

  • All Night Long
    • Rated 0 stars

This is my first time reading Jayne Ann Krentz. I have read some of her Amanda Quick books that I enjoy dearly! She's one of the authors that I look forward to a great plot within her books. She does it excellent within a historical. A friend sent this book to me, ALL NIGHT LONG, and I wasn't sure if I would read because I've been only reading Romance Suspense (RS) and Contemp, if it was more of hot sensuality because I used to read plain suspense and really got burned out on it. I'll list those authors I enjoy below so you can get some idea of what I'm looking for in RS authors. I'd love some similar recommendations as well as some feedback on JAK's similarity?
I'm not far into ALL NIGHT LONG, but I love JAK's writing voice so far. The story has been very gripping! I haven't felt any sexual tension of the characters as all, so I wondered if that comes strong within her books (I've got quite a ways to go yet)l But its one I know I'll finish, because one, I always finish any book I start but more important, I have to know what happened to her parents! So this is not so much a review but some input and help on some feedback to compare to what i'm looking for in a RS. Below are the authors I like below and asking if JAK is similar as these or close in sensuality? Thanks. I enjoy the feedback and input from this site, its excellent!
Authors of Contemp/RS I like: Jodi Lynn Copeland, Shannon McKenna, JD Robb (not the Nora Roberts books), Maya Banks, Cherry Adair, Lora Leigh, Lauren Dane, Lisa Marie Rice, Sasha White, Lorie O'Clare, Jaci Burton, Denise Agnew, Ann Jacobs, Lori Foster, Lucy Monroe, (and Brava and Aphrodisia authors from Kensington, among others)
PS I enjoy LOTS Of Pararnomal romance but I separate that from RS.
