I'm a voracious reader. I'm intrigued by the way the world, and the people living in it, functions. I read about ten non-fiction books for every fiction. The library is my home away from home. I love coffee shops with book exchanges, and I haunt bookstores.
I've read literally thousands of books, but no longer own most of them. Too many moves, too little space. I presently have six bookcases jammed full of keepers right now, and am slowly adding them to Shelfari. Currently I'm primarily reading library books, and adding them to my shelf as I finish them, although I don't get to keep the physical books.
I love animals, flowers, food, and learning new things. I'm a vegetarian, and I make my meals from scratch on those days I tear myself away from the computer. Otherwise, I eat a lot of leftovers!
I'm a writer, with numerous magazine articles, and two books, published. I write non-fiction as Sandra Smith; and fiction as Cassandra Barnes.
I write with a collection of angels, butterflies, and dolphins arrayed around my computer.
I began seriously writing in 1991, after a career as an accountant. I started with how-to articles based on my experience with making and selling jewelry. Since then, I’ve written about a variety of subjects for speciality, regional, and national magazines, as well as the Internet.
I've compiled a handbook on gems and minerals, titled Bewitched, Bedazzled, and Bejeweled: A Collection of Facts and Folklore about Gems and Jewelry. It's currently available as a Kindle download, ASIN: B001F0RSTK
I’ve also had a several short stories published, including one in Dogwood Tales, a national publication until its demise a few years ago. That story can be read at Author's Den.
As a novelist, I'm the author of Jenny's Legacy, a contemporary sweet romance featuring a psychic heroine. Jenny's Legacy received many excellent reviews, and can still be ordered at most bookstores. ISBN: 978-1594144332. I also have autographed copies for sale.

Acts of Love is a mystery/romance, featuring an aromatherapist and a multi-cultural police detective.
My fourth novel, a contemporary sweet romance titled The Perfect Body, was released as an e-book in May 2009, ISBN: 978-1-59431-758-3; and as a Kindle download: ASIN: B002BKDPHC.
I'm working now on my fifth novel, The Birthday Gift, another contemporary romance, which I anticipate having ready for publication in 2010.
My first novel, Desert Dreams, remains unpublished.
I have notes for at least a dozen more novels, including one about Atlantis, as well as file drawers overflowing with article ideas. I've never met a subject that didn't interest me, so there's no danger of running out of ideas!
