I'm a booklover who doesn't read nearly as much as I used to. I hate the thought that when I die I'll leave a stack of unread books behind...

I couldn't get into the Elric saga. Give me a reason to try again.

Hey -- I finished the Dracula Dossier. Have you read it yet?

    I posted a review.

Loved the first half, hated the second half. Didn't really remind me of The Historian. It could have been a great book, but I didn't like the direction it went.

Can I borrow a few hours from you? You seem to have much more time for reading than I.

I loved it, too. (I like it when anything comic book related wins an award, let alone a Pulitzer.) And I have enjoyed his interviews, etc. but I can't get into his other stuff, either. But I'm going to try again. Maybe the one about the parot!

What would "usual" taste be? Grisham and Crichton? PLEASE!! Give me Christopher Moore and Chuck Palahniuk any day.

    Yay spring! Yay Bella! Yayyy!!

I read the Bella Lugosi book back in school. While doing my spring cleaning, I ran across the paper I wrote on it, so I added it here. I learned how to pronounce his name: bay-la loo-gow-shee; and that he became famous for his portrayal of Jesus Christ before he came to the States. It was written by a gushing fan. His reviews of the movies were insightful but way generous, and drew a lot of subjective conclusions about what was going on in Bella's personal life during the shoots, and how it effected his performances. For example, there was one story about a Freudian slip that Bella made when delivering a line that made it into the final cut of the film. Good stuff. (Maybe they have it on alibris.com?)

Haven't seen Iron Man yet. Looking forward to it. (I'm waiting until they take my pass ticket. How cheap am I? They should take my Marvel.com membership away.)

The Twilight trailer is on MySpace. It looks exactly like I pictured it, but a little less blond and dreamy and teen-angsty. That's a good thing. (It's not released until December. Do we need the buzz already?)

Ditto about The Hulk. Same for the old Man from Atlantis TV show with Patrick Duffy. I couldn't stand to have that memory defiled with a movie. But Stan Lee sais that Marvel is planning a movie of ever major ctory they have ever done, so it's only a matter of time.

Things are getting better. New job, newly single, and now with 20% less sugar! (kidding about the sugar)

At the rate my piles of books are growing, I think I too shall die with a huge unread stack. Your review makes me want to dig out 'Halfway Human'. Glad I wasn't the only one who didn't enjoy 'The Black Company'. I discovered Edward Gorey when I was 19 and working part time at a small book store. Love, love, love his macabre rhymes and illustrations! We now have 104 books in common from 92 yesterday. :)

    Hi Greg,
You have a great shelf and we have quite a few books in common.
I have yet to read Robin Hobb. Did you enjoy her books?

I'm so glad you invited me to this thing. I'm having a blast reading reviews and building my reading list. It's even got me writing again. Takes up all the time I should be spending on other things. Damn. Now I'm mad at you! :-)
