Just a short note (and my only one, I promise) that I've launched my website at www.michellehoover.net. I've also created a page called Michelle Hoover's The Quickening on Facebook. If you're interested in further updates about the book, you can check out the site or join the page. You can also look at my Shelfari author page for more info. In any case, I hope you're well and happy reading. And if you have similar news, let me know.
Hiya. How is your studying going? finding it a challenge? Are you still enjoying English Lit? My reading is going good. I have just finished reading Fire by Deborah Challinor and I absolutely loved it!! One of the best books I have read. I have just joined the Piopio comminuty library at Piopio College. I took in the Whitcoulls top 100 list to see if they had any and they had nearly all of them! cool aye. And the librarian said if there are particular books I want to read, she can get them in for me. I got out 4 books from the list so I'm going to make a start on those now that I have finished Fire.
The books they read are: Heartburn, I Capture the castle, Atonement, The woman who walked into doors, Guppies for Ted, My Antonia, The memory box, Eden close, An instance of the fingerpost, Rebecca, The Alchemist and Girl with a pearl earring.
I haven't heard of many of them, but they sound interesting.
lol, I cant even remember how I stumbled across the book, but heard about from somewhere and saw it in paperplus yesterday so I bought it. "The reading group" arrived yesterday, I cant wait to read it. There are 12 chapters, 1 for each month, and each chapter focuses on the book the group reads for that month. I own two of the books featured in the book. The alchemist is the book they read in november and this book called "An instance of the fingerpost" is another one they read. I have it but have never read it. I really want to read the 12 books before I read "the reading group" so I know what they characters are talking about. Atonement is a book they read too.
Doug loves the book! he's been glued to it since getting it and can't wait to try out all the tips. Ya chosing a book to read is hard aye when there's so many you're just aching to read. I have been going nuts on trademe. There's so many books I want and they are going cheap as . Another book I would recommend you read is Nigel Latta's Into the darklands (I've just finished it). It gives you an indepth view into the world of psychology and the type of people you deal with. It's a grim read but I couldnt put it down.
Candice, I'm so glad you enjoyed this wonderful story. A few other suggestions: "The Farseer Trilogy" by Robin Hobb, "The Kite Runner," and "Aesop's Fables" by Aesop for the boys. Also, if you are a fan of mystery/suspense/thriller novels I'm sure you will fall in love with "The Millenium Trilogy" by Steig Larsson, it's one of the decades best. READ ON...
