    Yes I am so pleased I attempted this for the second time. I found it quite a refreshing read and it gave me another perspective and appreciation of children caught up in the daily drama of war. I agree with you, it was certainly heartbreaking and I should have this as one of my favourites if I haven't already.

    Hi calturner, are you still reading "The Book Thief"? I'm on my 2nd attempt and enjoying this much more this time! Such a sad story for the little girl Liesel so far, although her stepfather is wonderful to her. (I'm only up to "pg47 chapter -The Kiss") . Happy reading
