    •  A Year Without Living with MADE IN CHINA has made me change my shopping habits. I am now looking at the labels of where things are made. Thank you for bring up AWARENESS.

I also read The China Price this summer about the conditions chinese workers have to endure 12-14 hour days on meager wages.

With both in mind I hope to be a more mindful shopper.

    •  i enjoyed reading yoga in jersey. think since my cousin is on his mission the whole scene about the jehovah witnesses coming up to the door and being offered pancakes had me rolling. i can actually picture their faces looking back at each other wondering what are we doing. a terrific description. LOVED it.

    •  miss twiggy's tree house - when i read this book as a young girl. i read about a woman who was not liked because she had bears as friends. i read in the end because of the storm that everyone in town came to her and she opened her home and was kindhearted. now as an adult maybe this book was before it's time maybe the woman had bears as friends, people who are different than us. people are scared of different things and less likely to become friends but than the storm handles that. this book represents diversity at it's finest. i didn't realize that as a child, only now as an adult can i fully appreaciate this book. warm regards, cagrowngirl

  6. Anne Tyler

cagrowngirl edited the summary of Anne Tyler Thursday, July 3 2008.

    •  anne tyler is perhaps one of my all time favorite authors. it was not always the case. in high school i read earthly possessions and had to analyze it. we overanalyzed it and i thouhgt for sure my distaste for books would last. my first summer our of high school low and behold what happens...i am BORED and need something to read. i pick agatha christie and anne tyler. little did i know that i would read all of anne tyler's books and have her latest on my nightstand patiently waiting to be read. something we don't know what life has in store for us. i am happy to have anne tyler's books around, they are like old friends. thank you!! cagrowngirl

Sophie Kinsella....love all her books. seriously the shopaholic series is wonderful. bvut can you keep a secret is my favorite of all time. i even have pages marked so if i need a good hearty laugh i can quickly flip to it.

i just read two books by madeleine wickham - cocktails for three and gatecrashers. gatecrasher is hilarious. my husband can always tell when i am reading a book written about england because i acquire an english accent. i loved the character's diversity and plot in gatecrashers.
