My favorite book by Amelia Atwater-Rhodes. I wished she would continue the series with more on the brothers, but it doesn't seem to be the case.

One of the books that started my obsession to vampire fiction. I read it a long time ago and loved it. Looking back now, I think I prefer Shattered Mirror to this book, especially because I was never a big fan of the main character. But this book is special just because it was the start.

Not as good as The Golden Compass.

I seem to have a problem reading Gregory Maguire's style of writing, because it was very very hard to get through this book. And by the time I finally did, I'd forgotten most of what I read at the beginning. It just didn't stick in my brain. I infinitely prefer the musical. The story is very different, and for once the difference is not preferable.

What can you not love about a self-sacrificing tree? :D I would like it better if I didn't dislike the selfish little boy quite as much.

Favorite children's book ever! It has the most amazing story.

Not as exciting as Lord of the Rings, in my opinion. Maybe I just don't care for Bilbo or any of the dwarves as characters, but the adventure was just very dull. Reading it didn't give me the satisfaction of reading Lord of the Rings. It felt a little bit like reading a children's adventure story. The plot was just very shallow, on-the-surface action sequences.

The length is a bit discouraging, but once you read it, you realize that it's not one of those books that drag. It's very exciting throughout; something is always unraveling. Reading it made me want to change career plans; yay history. I actually made a trip to the stacks for vampire history.

I don't think I'll ever love a pathos quite as much as this. Towards the middle/end of the book, I realized I didn't much for the characters. They were all very tragically flawed, but in a way that was so real. It's not a happy story, but it leaves a deep impression. And I don't believe the book could have ended any other way. The ending that Ayn Rand chose was perfect (You'll know what I mean when you read it).

Most definitely my favorite book of the three and an amazing close to the trilogy. The middle dragged a little (the book was a little bit too long for it's own good) but the end reconciled everything. I'm a little confused as to what exactly happened to Kartik... But so sad! I love the bittersweet end to the story.
