I love this book to pieces.

I didn't care so much for most of the story, but I love the ending to pieces.

The only thing I can't come to grips with is Susan's absence. I wish that loose thread had been tied up somewhere.

When I started this, I was fully expecting the story to pick up where Wicked Lovely left off. So when I realized that this would feature a different set of characters, I was a little disappointed. The idea of the ink exchange is a very good one, however I didn't like Leslie quite as much as I liked Aislinn. The plot was a little blurry and it ended on such an unresolved note. Overall, I much prefer Wicked Lovely.

I think this book was unnecessarily long (and I can't imagine how it can possibly be succeeded by 7 more books). It was an interesting read, although I'm a little disappointed about Claire's unresolved ties with Frank.

The best part of reading this, was reading it right after Dark Angels and then realizing that the two take place around the same time period despite their differences!

I loved this if only because Alice reminded me so much of myself (as much as I hated to admit it). It's also one of those books that has a happy ending that comes at a great cost and isn't actually happy when you think about it. Just the way I like it. :]

I'm also amazed that after so many years, Karleen Koen is able to recreate a 40 years younger Alice and still make her believably the same character.

My rating is kind of misleading... this is actually a pretty good read. The plot is fast-paced and gripping. It's just that I loathe horror stories. This book cuts off with an unresolved ending, which leads me to think that there will be a sequel (or sequels) but I highly doubt I'll be coming back for more.

Don't read this at night. Or, er, on December 22nd.

A wonderful conclusion to the 2-book series. The finale gives answers to all the burning unresolved questions that have built up along the way, and I must say, they are not predictable nor disappointing.

I normally have no patience at all for stories within stories (you know, those ones where a characters tells a story that really serves no purpose plot-wise), but this book was definitely an exception. I loved all the tales, and the plot is very intriguing. It ends on a cliffhanger though, so I'm off to read the sequel...

I love the poems/riddles in this book:

I’ll sing you a song of the long ago.
    Seven shine the shiners, oh!
What did the Seven do way back when?
Why, they wove the Charter then!
Five for the warp, from beginning to end.
Two for the woof, to make and mend.
That’s the Seven, but what of the Nine-
What of the two who chose not to shine?
The Eighth did hide, hide all away,
But the Seventh caught him and made him pay.
The Ninth was strong and fought with might,
But lone Orannis was put out of the light,
Broken in two and buried under hill,
Forever to lie there wishing us ill.

This second book was much less plot-oriented and more about internal reflection. It was differently strange to have a new protagonist and to see the characters we are familar with (Sabriel and Touchstone) from an outsider's perspective. I do resent not having more Mogget action (or rather, less of sleeping Mogget nonaction) but the Disreputable Dog does make up for some of it.
