I am a teacher and a married mother of four children - three boys and one girl; and a grandmother of two beautiful little girls. Teaching is my second career, but my first love!
At an early age, I became a lover of books. My mom often reminds me of a time I was "left alone" because I was in my room, in a corner, reading a book. I never noticed that anyone had left and it took my parents fifteen minutes before they noticed I wasn't in the car.
I became a teenage mother at the age of 17. I never let my additional responsibilities to my baby deter me from getting an education. I graduated from the University of Pittsburgh with a BA in Liberal Studies with a concentration in Elementary Education and Children's Literature. After graduating from Pitt, I focused on taking care of my son. I worked for twelve years in customer service, but always felt that I was wasting my education.
At the age of 30, with a husband and an 8 month old child, I was inspired to go back to college to receive my teaching certification. I attended and graduated from Point Park University in Pittsburgh, Pa with a second BA in Elementary Education and a PA certification.
My family and I have just relocated from Pittsburgh, PA to Cary, NC. I am in my first year of teaching and loving it!!!
I am always open to read anything. I enjoy reading books that will help to make a better me. I love James Patterson and enjoy reading books by African American authors.
