You are walking on Miami Beach in Florida, in front of you is a young handsome Egyptian man wearing brown shorts; he trips and falls, his satchel opens and a dozen rose seeds are spilled into the sand. A possible thunder shower threatens overhead, a crack of thunder. The young man looks around nervously as he scoops up the seeds, as if someone might be following him. Asim counts the seeds and appears satisfied as he continues on his way. It starts to rain and a yellow rose grows instantly where he had dropped the seeds, growing so fast that it has to be magic.
“Hey,” the beautiful rose speaks to you. “Did me out and take me home and I’ll grant you a wish.”
You reach down and touch one of its petals and it feels wonderfully soft and has the most wonderful fragrance. “A talking flower? That’s impossible.”
It starts to rain as you dig around it.
The flower appears to look down the beach. “Hurry up before he comes back. All his wishes are evil.”
You quickly commence to dig.
Unrealistic or not my writing gives me hope. But with something like 50 000 books published every month it is a little discouraging. I didn’t think there were that many writers. But I continue to write and hope.
You have a nice shelf.
I hope you are reading lots of interesting books.
Knights of the Dragon:
Leander is under siege. It seems their wizard is dying. A dragon befriends a boy and hires knights to save his kingdom. Alexa is a match for any man, except perhaps for Stone; they’ve had eyes for one another for years, though neither will admit it. A dragon is born that turns out to be a wizard, a rare dragon indeed.
And there are whispers of a boy wizard.
It’s a tale of wizards, dragons, romance and knights.
Please have a look at my author page.
Limited services here today through Sunday according to sign out front. The man next to me said that it is worth the drive to Madison to go to Hinkles!!!! He lives here in Seymour. You were on lunch, probably reading when I called. Have you read what Theresa is reading?
Hi Rebecca, from the Jackson County Public Library, where it is wonderful as always. They have a huge tree in the lobby honoring veterans. It is decorated with ornaments with their names on them. They even have a basket with supplies to make an ornament. Shelfari seems to be up and running today; much better than yesterday. Well, I'm off to look for Hamish Macbeth, and then to my appointment.
I'm having a drawing for a free, autographed, softcover copy of my book on my website at www.carlafoft.com, so please tell everyone you know and enter yourself! Remember, even if a friend wins it, you can always borrow it to read. So get as many people as you know to enter!
Hi Rebecca. Hope you are doing well. I am enjoying the book "Water For Elephants". Thanks for recommending it. The circus theme and characters are very interesting. Tell your mother I said hi. I don't have time to post to her site tonight. It is almost past my bed time because I have to work tommorow.
Adorable kitten! Your name came up as having read one of the "Cat Who..." books that I've read. Do you enjoy that series? If so, you would probably like the Midnight Louie series by Carole Nelson Douglas.
I am also a fan of Nora Roberts and I see you have several of hers on your shelf. I didn't look all the way through it because there are too many. But one series I read by Nora was about a group of brothers who were all adopted. Each book featured a different brother. I loved that series.
