I have an idea, how bout a site/club here on Shelfari where writers/poets/ bloggers can post 24/7 in a continous scroll of publishing. Also, author posts links. to post photos and vids link to wordpress. The Wasted Vigil is definately a book I'd like to read. My Sis has been a missionary in Kabul for the past five years:Woman of Hope.Org.

Love to see you recommending Rushdie...*smile*...Thought of you just a few minutes ago actually. Was reading Arundhati Roy's "9 is not 11" essay at www.outlookindia.com. Powerful is an understatement. Have you read it? Are you very familiar with her politics? She's quite refreshing isn't she now ehh?

Speaking of Rushdie, there's another article posted in the same publication by Kenan Malik entitled "Hushed Into Silence."

"Rushdie's critics lost the battle - The Satanic Verses continues to be published. But they won the war. The argument at the heart of the anti-Rushdie case - that it is morally unacceptable to cause offence to other cultures - is now widely accepted."

...just sharing some evening reading with ya...hope this finds you well and safe...
