I wish I were organized enough to post more books. I am now reading _Light Fell_ a novel about a male, Israeli professor of English literature, who once fell in love with a male rabbi and divorced his wife. His lover, a genius of the Talmud, killed himself because he felt he had cut himself off from the love of G-d (the way Jews write it) by acting on his homosexual impulses. I almost didn't go on with this book because it was veering into homoeroticism that does not interest me. However, the author left that path and moved on to this man's attempts to rebuild the connections to his wife, father, and 5 sons. It is beautifully written so I will circumvent the there to which I do not wish to go. The protagonist's name is "Licht" which is German for "light" so I guess he is the title character as well. There is also reference to the phrase "light fell" in Jewish literature. I was also began thinking about Ellen in _The Pillars of the Earth_. Were Europeans burning witches in the 12th Century, or did that not happen until the Inquisition? Maybe Follett had it right after all. What do you think of _Final Exam_? Do you think our medical system can avoid exacerbating the pain of death and loss? I know you have lived through this nightmare several times. I am interested in your opinion and I hope this book is not too painful.

Thanks for introducing me to this site. Boy, I can see this is going to sop up a lot of my time. As with pets, the life of a book is tragically short--only the length of time one is immersed in reading it. Short of rereading it, its life can only be prolonged by reading reviews or discussing it with others. This website is my paradise! Books immortalized!
