Buckmulligan

Born the eldest son of a turtle rancher, Kevin was raised on hard work and simple Christian rancher morality. His parents, horrificly, were killed when the family herd stampeded. Due to the loss of income, the bank was forced to foreclose on the ranch. The Harris children were on the street.

    Buck,

Thanks! For accepting my invite :) You have a great variety of books on your shelf and I have read many of the same books.

I also enjoyed the history of your family on your profile page :)

Your books are nothing like my books, yet they're totally like my books.

Turtle ranching in northern Idaho? Ever think of getting mom and pop to try a turtle start up in the last frontier of the great white north?

Right now I am reading "History of the World in Six Glasses" by Tom Standage and The Scroll of Seduction" by Gioconda Belli. The first one, amazing, a trip, the second one: exquisite! What about you? What are you reading atm?

"Hello. I see that you have Forty Thousand in Gehenna. I love Cherryh, especially the Faded Sun Trilogy, but haven't read 40K. Did you like it? How does it compare to the other works?"

    Hi :).

I didn't like it as much as my other favorites. I love The Faded Sun Trilogy (such detail to the mri culture!) and I also love Devil to the Belt and Cyteen. 40 Thousand was...okay. Although it's set in the same time as Downbelow Station, it didn't feel part of the overall Alliance/Union story thread to me. It felt awkward and disconnected. Not quite removed enough to be an effective standalone novel and no characters that I really wanted to know more about. I tend to be a completist so I read it anyway :).

Pratchett is fun and light. Seeing that you like Douglas Adams, Piers Anthony and Neil Gaiman, i think you'll enjoy his Discworld series. He's light and silly.

Hmm... I might have to delve into your shelves and steal suggestions ;)

Wow Buck that's quite a life you have lived. But you are saved by way of being a Neil Gaiman fan.
