Uiterst indringend verslag van een Nederlander die in de Tweede Wereldoorlog in verscheidene Duitse gevangenissen en concentratiekampen was opgesloten. Eerlijk en zeer ontstellend.

Portrays the absurdity of war in a sympathetic way. Thoroughly amusing.

This is the first book I read from Keroauc. I don't even remember how I stumbled upon it, but I adored it and it remained my favorite after reading On The Road and other Beat literature. It connects with an insufficiently fulfilled desire that keeps burning cigarette holes in my organs. My poor organs...

It truly doesn't get better than this. If you have a genuine intellectual interest in the counter culture that spawned in the sixties, make this part of your literary universe.

'Bill Hicks: Agent of Evolution' is an exceptionally badly written biography. But for people who can properly appreciate the charm and brilliance of Bill Hicks, it is still a must-read.

Opening doors will never be the same.

Of all the study books I have been forced to buy in my life, this is one I'm thankful for.

An amazing take on human evolution. The writer convincingly propones that many human characterics cannot be exlained by the accepted Savannah-theory, but can be explained stunningly well by the Aquatic Ape Theory, stating that human beings knew a period of living in water part-time. Will make you think.

There is just something endlessly fascinating about true war stories. You don't have to be an adolescent middle-class male to be intrigued by sudden and almost random death. A surreal situation where the lives of young people can be put to an immediate stop at any given moment by any cruel means. This book is a tale of a group of young men who actually were in that situation and, for the most part, lived to tell about it.

In short: historical account of the British glider assault on a key position in the German infrastructure near Caen, France on D-day.

For those who have read and enjoyed the book: the mission to capture and hold Pegasus Bridge features in the computer game Call of Duty and the movie The Longest Day.
