About a week. It seemed pretty cool to me, so I thought I'd test drive it.
Yo, How it be, lady?
Thank you for accepting my friend invitation. :)
Thanks so much! I am so glad you enjoyed 'The Gypsy Crown'. I'd love you to review it - wherever you can! :) It's actually just been short-listed for the Cybils Award - an web-based prize for chidlren's literature. I'm very excited!all my bestKate
Working as diligently as I can to get the second book published. And I'm working very hard writing the third. As for the schedule, I completely understand so please don't worry. If you happen to have the time during the holidays, drop me a line and let me know what you thought. Librarians opinions are always, always welcome. I do hope you have a magical holidays!
Hello Jenne! Sorry I didn't respond to your emails sooner. It's been a while since I dropped in on Shelfari. As for the invite, I'd be honored to be your friend on Goodreads. Thank you for having me!
I'm talking more about the "I've read" shelf....
Seriously, your shelf makes me feel so lazy! Posted to any of your groups?
:) Thanks. It's from the interwebz.
Sorry it took so long to reply. I haven't been on in a while. I had to have gall bladder surgery right in the middle of marching band season (patrick is in hoover high school's band) and Fall Ball (sara is playing softball but Sunday is her last game). It really has been wild lately. I didn't know that I could import lists from good reads but I will do that. I am glad you started Twilight. I imagine you are finished by now. What did you think? If you didn't like it I wouldn't bother with two and three as they aren't as good(at least in my opinion) However, I did like number four a lot. I agree with you about A Great and Terrrible Beauty. It bothered me that there was no consequence at the time. However. I felt better about that situation after reading the second in the series. It was very long and while I like the books, I found that unlike Harry Potter, I needed a break before continuing the series. I have never read the Maximum Ride series. Patrick loves the series. I the adult books that the series is based on. I think the titles were Where the Wind Blows and Lake House. They were strange but I enjoyed them anyway. After talking with Patrick, I feel that the adult books were darker going into much more detail about the abuse the children suffered and the whole perverseness of the idea in general. Let me know if you liked Twilight. Are you reading Ink Death? I am on page 290 something. Still along way from the end but I am loving it so far. She is just an awesome storyteller and I know I will be sad when I finish the book. Did you hear that the teen dept. flooded due to construction on the plaza. Some books were moved over near paperbacks and some have been moved over to adult fiction. I think Wendy will be displaced a little longer. I met your teen librarian at the storytellers workshop. I have met her before but didn't make the connection. She loves you of course. Who wouldn't? I miss you but I'm glad you are working with someone nice! See you soon I hope! Traci
All the new books for the adult department come through my department so I open up Shelfari while I'm processing the books for circulation. If there's something I want to read, I zip the ISBN through our barcode scanner and add it to my Plan To Read shelf. I don't know how I'll get to it :) I also have several reader's advisory blogs that I read religiously and I get tons of suggestions that way. I keep Shelfari open when I'm working a shift on the desk so if someone walks up and asks for a good book I can just look through my favorites for a suggestion. I love Shelfari!
I'm with you, I have an audio going in my car while I try to read a book within a decent period of time but it often takes me weeks! I mix genre's pretty well but mysteries and suspense thrillers are my real cup of tea. Don't forget to let me know what you thought of them if you read either of my recommendations.
I didn't care for Evanovich on audio so I switched to reading them only. I think it was the reader - she didn't sound the way I had imagined when I read the first one. Oh my gosh, I thought #1 was absolutely hilarous so I'm really surprised you struggled. Really, I chalk it up to the presentation. Now, I have heard others who like the reading and not every author is good for everybody. You seem to like lots of fantasy so, if you think you want some humor and mix in a bit of fantasy, I can recommend Enchanted, Inc by Shanna Swendson, or Garden Spells by Sarah Addison Allen. Check out the reviews and comments, see what you think. Then, of course, you have to let me know if I was right :-) I see you have one of my wandering notes - I wrote a note to one of my shelfari friends and I swear it went out to everyone on Shelfari (the one where I ask "is your sister also on Shelfari?") I don't know why this happened! Nice chatting with you anyway. ;-)
What a kind heart! It is an honor to meet you.
hello, I love your pic! hope 2 be friends
