I put the Apothecary's Daughter on my Kindle because it was free, and because I like the time period. I also added The Lady of Milkweed Manor by the same author and read that one first. It was pretty good. This book is not as good so far, but I will push on. Will let you know. LOVE your avatar!
The February nomintations, courtesy of Regina L, have been posted on Good Reads. Voting ends on January 20th; we'd love to have you join us!
The discussion for The Lacuna should be posted any day now.
Thought I'd keep you posted. I'm running late and I don't even have a baby;-)
I did enjoy the book because of many reasons. Please note that I posted a review to the book also. There were a couple things that really caught my attention in the book. I discuss both of them in my review. He made a strange reference to Baseball. I take it the author has not idea about the game. He also portrayed native Hawaiians around 1890 as very conscious of what people thought of them, which I find unusual based on the native hawaiians I know in the 1980's!
Ohhhh I wish I could email you a BIG hug! Our little group slurped through TONS of shrimp at Giovanni's and "voted" it the best place we ate the whole time we were on Oahu and the Big Island. We had so much fun there and ate until we were stuffed! Everyone said to be sure to write you a BIG thank you!!
We loved the turtles. I got a book mark with a turtle on it. (I collect book marks - shocker, right?)
We had such a good time in your state. Every beach is just one thrill after another, but the coast right by where you live continues to be my favorite. The beaches on the Florida panhandle (by where I live) are best to swim and look at the turquoise water and white sand, but the ones right by your house are most beautiful to look at from afar!
I hope you have reason to come near my home so I can return the favor!
Thank you SO MUCH! I just cut and pasted your note into an email to the 6 of us that are going on this trip. We will definitely get that shrimp! And I really wanted to see Sea Turtles, so this is PERFECT. This is wonderful insider information!!!
Congratulations on your new little guy. I have two wonderful boy. Wouldn't trade them for a girl. They are grown now but they love their mama!!! You are entering a joyous time in your life. Parenthood is such a gift from God.
Thank you again!!!!
