Hi Brianne,I started Amagansett last night and I am enjoying it so far. Will let you know!Pepi
Hi Brianne,I finished Kindness of Strangers last night. Thank you so much for reminding me to pick it up. You said it well when you noted that you probably would not have picked up this book if it was not selected as a Good Read. I really enjoyed the story. The subject was disgusting but it made me more aware of this dreadful reality in our society. And she handled the story line well.I am starting The Dress Lodger today. It is about a prostitute in England (what is it with these dark stories?) I just got Amagansett from the library yesterday. I'll take a look at "Bringing Down the House". Sounds like another book that can teach me about a slice of life.I'm off to Disney World for the weekend. Going to do a 5K with some friends and then to Epcot for a Wine and Food Fest tomorrow. We only live about 3 and 1/2 hours from Orlando.Pepi
Brianne,I picked up "Kindness of Strangers" and I am hooked. Read it until I couldn't keep my eyes open last night. Will keep you posted!Finished "Twilight". The only thing going for it was that it didn't take long to read it. I can see why teens love it as it is a fantasy love story. What are you reading now? We definitely have the same taste in books so I look forward to your recommendations.Pepi
I didn't get the Kindness of Strangers, but I just went online and reserved it at my library. Ended up with too many books and not enough time. Now I look forward to it. I ran out of books on my trip to Denver this week and so I bought Stephanie Myers' Twilight, just to see what the hype was about. I'm a little over half way through it and - so far - seems like a teenage love story. I'll finish it, but not sure why. Have you read it? Myer's books have been on the USA Today best seller list for weeks and weeks!Listening to the hurricane info. I feel so bad for the Texas coast. Gas lines are incredible in my hometown and some gas stations are out of gas. We don't live anywhere near the hurricane! Have a relaxing weekend with a good book!
Hi Brianne,I loved Year of Wonders. Wow. Is it sick to like to read about the plague? It is so interesting to me because they knew so little about communicability then. I have heard mixed reviews about her newer book, The Book People. Have you read that one yet?Pepi
Hi Brianne!I am glad you can find some good reads on my shelf. If a book is a "5", I am in love with it. If it is a "3", I am only satisfied with it. I have some updating to do because I have been traveling a lot over the past month and haven't been able to get on this site like I like to! What have you read lately that you liked alot?Pepi

Hi Brianne,Enjoyed your note. I really loved driving along the coastline of Oahu. Of course we stayed at the beach, but I couldn't wait to get away from the tourist area and out to the "real" ocean. I also love all the vegetation and flowers. I would love to have hibiscus in bloom all year long!It is cold in the south this weekend and so we get to have a fire in the fireplace. It is wonderful to curl up and read with a cup of tea! I write to a couple of people in Canada and Indiana and they must be laughing at me because I am excited about the cold! What are you reading? I just finished City of the Beasts by Allende. It was about a 3 or 4. I do enjoy her stories. Getting ready to read the March reads for the Good Reads group here on Shelfari. What do you do for a living - or are you a full time mom? I work for a Home Care nursing company. I am an administrator so I travel around alot. Lots of hotel rooms to read in!Pepi
