I'm the author of THE LITTLEST HITLER (Counterpoint)-- a collection of short stories named one of Publishers Weekly's Best Books of 2006 and a finalist for the Washington State Book Award. My novel SPERM & EGG will come out in 2008. My work has appeared in McSweeney's, The Best American Nonrequired Reading 2003 and 2005, BlackBook, The Stranger, and other places. I teach at Goddard College's low-residency MFA program in Port Townsend, have worked at Amazon.com, Microsoft, Drugstore.com, Apex Learning, mowing the lawn of a guy named--no joke--Dick Dickman, in the bulb fields of Skagit County, and as an ice cream man. I have an MFA from Bennington College and a BA in Punk Rock and Sharing a Communal Kitchen (dual major) from The Evergreen State College. I'm married to the Director of Advertising of Recreational Equipment, Inc. The kid in the picture is my son Miles. He likes The Hives. I also have a daugter, age 7 months, who appears to be fond of whipped prunes.
