According to my parents, I taught myself to read at age 4 by reading Reader's Digests. By 5th grade, I was reading The Illiad and The Odyssey off my dad's bookcase- "just 'cause". And I haven't stopped since. I'll read almost anything nonfiction, but I'm a bit more picky about fiction...... more »

And I haven't stopped since. I'll read almost anything nonfiction, but I'm a bit more picky about fiction... no trash, no gore, etc.

I try to read 2 books a week. Altho it depends on how long or good the book is! ("Labyrinth" by Kate Mosse took FOREVER, it was just so awful. And "A Connecticut Yankee in King Arthur's Court" was interesting, but so drawn out and weird- it took 5 days.)

I'm a SAHM in the Boston area. My hubby and 10 year old son are also avid readers- which makes for some really relaxing nights. I have a 4 year old girl, and have already started to accumulate a library of books just for her : )

My shelf is just the books that I have read and enjoyed... that I would recommend to someone else. I've read many others that we will just ignore... « less
