happy new year!! i had a lot of fun this xmas... decided since i was in the philippines, may as well be on an island for xmas.... so went down to a place called boracay.... apparently some of the best beaches in the world! they were nice... white sand etc
didn't see my family :( so ur lucky for that........ i really want to get back to see them this year soon
no idea on the embassy job.... just got my scores for the tests back a few weeks ago... passed all three tests.... but still have to wait to hear if i make it to the next stage.... gotta love the speed the government moves at! slower than the publishing industry! lol
i have been busy.... redesigned the website, trying to keep up with blogging, and deadline for next book is coming down soon! ive given up on a lot of sites like linkedin etc..... im focusing on facebook, twitter, goodreads, and blogging now ....... only come to this site anymore to see if i got a message from u!
what is JAKE? (forgive me if that is a stupid question!)
    all the best

no... the test was in thailand simply bc they couldn't have it in every country around the glob, so thailand was the closest to me since philippines wasn't originally an option
if i get it--which is a long shot!--i will be sent back to canada for four years then sent somewhere after that
concerning the job, nothing like passports etc... its a political based job where u deal with day to day problems canada faces with other countries overseas
uive thought about moving to mexico! lol because i could teach there like im doing here, only id be closer to my family and no crazy jet lag when i visit!!
my brother and his gfriend just came here to visit for two weeks... they loved it... especial because there was no "s" stuff lol
if u think seattle is bad, check out toronto!!!
    a winter nightmare :(

ha! i joined library thing....i joined them all when i first started social mediaing (not a word I know!)...wasn't too impressed with it........ no, i might be drifting, but im not leaving! ive been busy lately bc i was applying for a job with the canadian embassy.......... had to take three exams... originally they weer supposed to be in thailand, but with the flooding there they let me take them at the canadian embassy here..... just finished two days ago.... 3 exams, two hours each, in one day! arg!! it was exhausting... my neck still hurts from looking down at the papers.... anyway, think i did well on two (the writing one and judgement one)... but one was pretty damn tough (IQ one... tough bc there were a lot of math questions, and I suck at math!)
so...........what have u been up to?? (oh, and i know i write and stuff, and maybe i should know this, but what does copasetic mean??) lol

im slowly drifting away from shelfari! i think goodreads is a much better site, but that's just my opinion....... are u on goodreads?? funny, i still don't even know how to find my messages on this site, and im always jumping from page to page to get to them.... says something there about the layout!

im better now.... but that airborne stuff sounds great... actually the medicine here is a funny story in itself.... u actually buy it by the pill, not the package or box! lol i guess it makes it more affordable... and u can reuse any prescription a thousand times... i had a prescription for strong antibiotics a while back when i was sick, and when it ran out, instead of going to the doctor again, i simply used the same prescription... i think i used it four or five times, weeks from when it was issued

laurie king rings a bell............... ive never read her though...why's she ur favorite??

its neat how little bits of information can change ur perception of things..... like i said before, bouchercon was great and id love to go back next year (hopefully ill be closer than the philippines next time!)

i think the stephen king group is called the band of millionaires! lol
never saw james burke.... actually, i might have..... famous authors are very unlike actors and other celebrities in that they look like anybody off the street! (unlless ur a big fan i guess)
coming down with a cold... ug...........

hey! sorry for the late late reply!~ trying to fit in canada, st. louis, all the connecting flights, and jet lag as left me out of it for a week or so since ive been back... i think my last blog post was like a month ago! lol
parents were great... very nice to see them... and bouchercon was also a lot of fun! never been to something like that... its fun to see all these authors you've only read or seen their pics on books or whatever.... then they're right up there doing a panel and taking questions
hey, have u ever heard of the Group of 7? I think they're a bunch of authors in the Seattle area... Kevin O'Brien is one of them
and thanks for the comment on the video! i made it... putting together the video was actually the easy part...the thing that took a long time was finding the right pictures/videos to use, without breaking copyrights lol
what happened when you tried to post?? ill have to try to fix that!!
    hope all is well!

i get a photo on the back cover, but not the entire thing! i think u have to sell like a million copies to get to do that lol
yeah, ive started working on the next book... im not sure if i mentioned it, but i have a youtube trailer for White Lies... u might get a kick out of some of the images cause they're straight out of leavenworth WA!
    (not all, but a couple)

(the video is on the page titled "media room")
flying to canada tomorrow! going to see family then flying down to st. louis for Bouchercon (a big mystery convention)
prob won't be online for bit, but hopefully will get some pics with me and a couple famous authors! (we'll see lol)
PS: my linked account sucks! i have like 23 people and dont know how to find more friends.... i think you actually have to "know" them to make friends.... which makes sense......

i think a library would be a great place to work! its quiet, air conditioned, and filled with books! very serene........ when i was younger, i always wanted to work in a dark and gloomy used second-hand book shop lol one, the smell of books is great, and two, the person behind the counter was always sitting there with a coffee and reading a book! awesome i havent done the walk and read in a long time, but i used to do it if i was on a train/subway and got out onto the platform... i would walk a little reading until i finished the page! dangerous i think lol.............. and concerning the finding agent/publisher, yeah i already did that... its funny how quickly things change.... i spent years sending stuff to agents, publishers etc, and thats all that mattered: getting one.... it was all you think about... then when u get one, life is a hell of a lot easier (or less stressful)!~ at least, life for someone who writes

thats an awesome tool... breaking down how many words you've read! and i know what you mean by too much too read, too little time....... when i go t the library, im like a kid in the candy store, and i grab like 5 books, then i only get through one of them by the due date lol
i usually read before i go to bed, but that's about it nowadays... i used to read when i took the train to work, which was nice because i could usually get in 20 pages or so... but now i walk so that's out
i read one daniel silva and really liked him... ill give the rembrant one you mentioned a go!

correction ***i "hate" choosing these thumbnails****

    jemacba says

lol yeah, the pensive picture! i had choosing these thumbnails X_X
the one [---- (to the left) is what i've used for my other accounts, so i figured i should make all my accounts have the same profile pic
and speaking of picking up dialects, i have a friend here who's from oklahoma, and ive picked up "fixing"
........as in "im fixing for something to eat" lol i love that one

actually, its funny u mentioned linked in... i had no idea what it was or did aside from that it was something like FB.... but i made an account because everyone else was doing it (peer pressure!)..... and i found you can link your blog to it.... now when i do a blog post, it automatically gets uploaded to my fb page, linked in, etc.... much easier!

haha.... you sound canadain... ey......... how is that pronounced.... like "eh?"
it's funny... i always heard canadian accents mocked on TV... the "eh" and "cooch" (sofa)... "aboot" about etc... i never really heard it much because i grew up in toronto, which is pretty multicultural
but then after being overseas for a few years, when i came back, i heard it all the time! (also saw a lot of guys wearing lumberjack jackets and toques (what do u call them?), which i also thought was a stereotype lol)
hope the issues at work get sorted! i have a computer at work, which is when i do most of my other stuff too... and i don't know if i would be able to get through the week without using it!
speaking of not hanging out on shelfari as much, i think i've over-social mediaed
at first i could keep up, but now now i've found out that twitter and FB are taking up way more of my time than i thought they would
im also on goodreads, but havent been back there in a couple weeks!

ive been on vacation for past week.......no internet where i was (talk about going native lol)

i had a vegetable garden also... it was awesome going outside to grab a tomato, or whatever..... australia doesnt have orange pumpkins like ours, but they have little green ones, and man those grow like weeds.... they could pretty much grow on gravel.... within a month you could have a full-fledged pumpkin patch! (too bad they dont celebrate halloween there)............. also had to deal with kangaroos jumping the fence and eating everything X_X

and, yes... if you can email me the info they have for authors, that would be great!
    my email is: jeremybatesbooks@gmail.com
    thanks!

actually, i never thought id get into gardening, but then i was in australia for a year a bit, and the place i was staying had a HUGE garden... it was in a small little town called ashby... i wasn't working then, just writing, so i was home all the time and i got into it! (well, i actually spent more time with the shears than doing anything else... it was like a rainforest lol) but i liked it; very peaceful
and concerning the library request idea, its great! i never thought of that... an army of followers requesting the library to purchase your book! (i guess im going to need to get more followers! lol) how does it work, btw? who is the person you would talk to? (position) and could you send an email or should you make a call?
