Hello, a greeting from Lapland where I'm staying for the vacations. s'Hertogenbosch, fascinating -- were you born there or staying there for work or studies? Do they still have his altar paintings at the church?

Lately I've been reading Ingmar Bergman's autobiography -- I thought a man who does films like that must have something to tell, and know how to tell it. The early childhood accounts are bordering on the disturbing (and explains some traumas and, dare I say, surely influenced the haunting character of several films), while most of the book is about his work in theatre... I never had a big clue about theatre (I intend to correct this in due time) but the way Bergman tells is very personal and captivating. Just a chapter or two remained when I forgot at it a friend's place so I didn't finish it off yet but I'm already piling up new books to read. What's in your hands at this point?

Hi Bev. I really should update. I'm now a married man of five months. Still finding time to read, the book I added today (the kindness of strangers) is a nice little insight into the life of a war correspondent, it was a good read.

Hope things are ok with you.

Ah! That Bosch book! I traced a copy of it at an exquisite bookshop Rome but with a price tag of some 140 euros... next time I saw it, this spring in Berlin, it was second hand for 40 euros but I'd already bought books for 70 euros so had to leave it... plus that I was sliding into my Moreau & Wien Secessionist period... Greetings from another tea abuser. Which reminds me to put the kettle on...

How ironic to see "Death in the Garden" on your recent list! I JUST read about that book the day before yesterday and requested a copy from one of our other libraries. Do you like Elizabeth Ironside, in general?

I noticed you have a lot of Pride and Prejudice continuations. Read any good ones?

I read Mr. Darcy's Daughter's and Fitzwilliam Darcy, Gentleman and got so tired of them I never picked up another.
