I know Hell's Kitchen! It's become a very polite part of town nowadays. Nothing like what it's name would suggest.

I grew up in the Mott Haven section of the South Bronx. It's the neighborhood featured in Jonathan Kozol's Savage Inequalities. Rough part of town but my hometown.

I loved Oscar Wao and I'm very impressed by how Junot Diaz just keeps getting better and better with each new work he publishes. Can't wait for his next book or short story.

Just letting everyone know that the June winner for "Good Reads" is The Time Traveler's Wife by Audrey Niffengger. If you're interested in reading the book we look forward to your input and discussion.

Also, July nominations are now posted. Feel free to take a look at those and vote.

Participating in the discussions and voting enters you into the drawing to be selected as a nominator. However, no pressure to participate in either one of these.

You can either send me a list of the books or post a thread for voting on the group. Either one works for me.

It seems like everyone else in the Readers in Thongs group reads so much more than me! I don't know how they do it!
