It was a bit long and drawn out, but I really liked this book. It really shows you how there is no perfect family out in the real world. Every family has a problem no matter how big or small it is. This is one of my favorite autobiographies.

I didn't end up finishing this book because it was not interesting enough to hold my attention for 400 pages. While some of the stories were fun to read there were too many that were not interesting enough for the author to bother writing down, let alone me having to take the time to read it.

I really wanted to like this book, especially because Dave Eggers so highly recommended it. I've got to say...it was pretty boring. It should have been interesting and exciting, but it just wasn't. I gave up about half-way through.

dull in some areas, interesting in others. while reading it i keep wondering if he's being a jerk or his parents really treated him like that.

This book was much stronger at the beginning. I am not sure I would have like it much at all if it hadn't been based in the Bay Area.

i just had to write this review as a warning. only read this book if you want to WASTE YOUR TIME reading 400 or so pages. sure, i feel bad for the guy but this is the kind of stuff that belongs in a journal or something. i think lots of people entertain the notion of writing a memoir or something similar, and this book is a reminder that hey, most people probably don't want to read about you. sigh. the cover really sucked me in. check these guys out instead of reading the book. http://www.non-format.com

Well-written throughout, but sometimes hard to read just because his parents were such complete disasters. It also felt a little self-indulgent, like he was getting a lot of stuff off his chest that maybe he should've just processed in a journal or something. That said, I enjoyed it, even though at times it felt like watching a car crash in slow motion.
