While still quite dark it seemed to have a much more optimistic outlook. A very fun read and it was great to revisit the characters from the original.” see full review » see other reviews » |

True comments from everyone - everyone gets what's coming to them and get what they deserve. And the ending? Fantastic. HOWEVER, I struggled through it. I feel so dirty after finishing it. And yes, none of them have redeeming qualities, despite some of the redemption. My brother-in-law LOVES this book, now I know why.
I need a shower, and a detox, and a priest to perform absolution, and a colonoscopy, and a neti-pot...and so on, and so on...and another shower in there somewhere. My soul feels icky.”
“I saw Trainspotting's film adaptation in 1996, then read the book years later. I found the book to be a bit difficult to follow (being written in a phonetic Scottish accent) but the characters are classic. Porno revists Sick Boy, Begbie, Renton, Spud and some new friends as they reconnect and try to break into a respectable career - pornography. It's laugh out loud funny, but it's crazy...and so Irvine Welsh! You can't help but be amused at how delusional the these boys are - they don't have a clue, and you somewhat enjoy watching them screw up so badly. If you like Irvine Welsh, you will love this book!!!”

I was keen to find out what Rents, Begbie and Sick Boy had been up to and wasn't disappointed. Still not as good as Trainspotting and The Acid House, however.”
