the premise of this book is really interesting, but i found it rather hard to read. marias sticks to latin sentence structure and, as a result, you forget who or what he's talking about halfway through the sentence. some of the ideas and theories he puts forward, though, are great for pondering...

    The opening sentence and situation grabs you. I appreciate how the author weaved the multiple story lines, which led to an interesting and almost predictable conclusion. Be ready for the tangents, but keep in mind it's how the author chooses to give an accurate picture of the main character.
