“Someone has stolen a deadly herbicide and pesticide from the local farm supply. When incidents of use show up, Deputy Sheriff Clair Watkins needs to find the culprit. The incidents escalate from killing flowers and chickens to poisoning people and the clues all point back to the murder of an area family 50 years previous. Those clues are the bones of fingers which were cut from each of the victims back then and are showing up at the scene of each incident. A subplot features Claires personal life and a possible marriage proposal. Readers who enjoy Susan Wittig Albert, Nevada Barr, or Dana Stabenow will probably like this one.
