Songs Without Words started off pretty well. I was definitely into it. However, about 3/4 of the way through, I got bored. The endless descriptions of Sarabeth's inner turmoil bored me to tears. I was much more interested in Liz and Lauren and their lives and struggles. Still, overall I...

This was a book I couldn't decide if I really liked or didn't like. More in between. Their were several characters and their stories intertwined and it jumped around a lot.....

Want to exist in the mind of two depressed women, an adult and an adolescent? This is a book "without words" or at least any I wanted to read. If you want to wallow in low energy and feelings of worthlessness, this is the book for you! Couldn't wait for it to end.

This was a sad powerful tale about women who were childhood friends. One suffers from depression that causes her to disconnect from her friend during a time she really needs her.

Good, kind of sad. Written from a mother's point of view, which I totally get now!

I read the book thru to the end. Ultimately disappointed in the ending, which is why I only give the rating a 3. No real end to the story ... everything is left "hanging".

Since I loved Ann Packer's first book, The Dive From Clausen's Pier, I had hoped that I would love this book, too. Not so much. I found it very depressing and had to put it aside several times.

Story dealt with depression and suicide and female friendship. Liked it enough. Easy to read. The author doesn't judge her characters, but creates them in such a way that (the main characters anyway) and fully realized and you have to judge or not judge them. Although the main topics of the book seem tough they are more universal than we all think.
