This translation is simple and accessible to the western mind, however is loses the lyrical and deep poetic quality of the original translations.

[This is a review of Jack Hawley's version of the Bhagavad Gita. I don't know understand the reference to Barbara Miller in the Shelfari view of the book.]

Possibly the most amazing book ever written! Containing enough wisdom to last a lifetime, the Bhagavad Gita is best understood when studied with the help of a teacher.
This, however, is an excellent edition to start with, especially if one is studying it on one's own. Not an absolutely faithful translation because it works explanations and commentary into the main text -- that, however, is what makes it so easy to follow even without a teacher.
