Douglas & Lincoln are just a phenomenal writing team. They really do well at crafting a story and writing it well without becoming very repetitious & predictable.

Even when you think you know what's going on, you're not always right.

This was a re-read and I'd forgotten enough that even when I started to remember some of the story, it still felt fresh and like I was reading for the first time.

This book is about a guy who is a meteorite hunter whose old partner is found dead. Yet with the body was evidence of a tremendous meteorite find. A wealthy billionaire funds the trip to go recover it and hires the hunter among others to do so.

And of course... the only really predictable part of the story, they run into troubles along the way.

One thing that sets this story out is that the billionaire hires an outfit to do the retrieval and the company is very expensive to hire. Because they absolutely guarantee results and will do just about anything. It adds a unique flavor to the story.

Not better then Relic but still a good story bringing to sea and to the south. I was still guessing who is the main hero; guess there is none. I suppose the main character did not play a good part/role in this book - Dr MacFarlane who just tag along in this gigantic stone search. Glinn who play a top man in engineering for the search and recovery had more about him in this adventure then the other.

The entire written about the huge vessel with its high engineering concepts for this mission. The unknown danger they would face with this 'red stone' and the risk they are taking with the Chilean authorities. All this took us for a ride with strange and enormous storms which makes it even harder to get home for this crew.

Not great but is good sometime we read about the south pole; for unknowns we find there. Rate it 3.5 Stars

The Ice Limit is an action/adventure book that is moderately sci-fi. It touches on a number of sciences, planetary geology, life science, and also engineering, and marine science. The story revolves around the discovering and recovery of a metoritie that landed millions of years ago on an island near Cape Horn. Several individuals are killed because they touch the stone, and the science of discovery is added to a action plot. It has a surprise ending. A good easy read.

Decent story with an odd ending. I typically love Preston and Child's books, but this is the weakest that I've read to this point.

Outside of 2 or 3 people, the characters are paper thin, and in the final analysis, there was really only one that I cared about.

It was a decent adventure, as all Preston & Child books are, but the ending was a total dud. Really left me with a feeling of "You're kidding me, right?"

    Excellent!!!
Loved the characters, the story, and the sheer majesty of the feat. This one's great for the imagination. Must look into "panspermia."

I liked this book but was a little too much a downer ending for my liking. I liked the engineering challenges and solutions. Not as good as the Pendergast books (although the engineer does reappear in the Pendergast trilogy). I think the funniest part is the fact this book becomes in "in joke" in future book

High adventure and intrigue. Tightly plotted, well-written, good characterization. When Preston and Child collaborate (how do they do this?) the outcome is worth your investment, however you choose to measure it.
