History is almost always written by the victors, and so leaves out uncomfortable truths or anything that interferes with the mythic storyline. Timothy Egan takes a close and honest look at the American invasion of the Pacific Northwest, its consequences for native peoples, the environment and we descendants of "settlers" who so unsettled our region.
