A brililant exposition of a society that has no preconceived notions of the so-called norms of gender differences still prevalent in our own societies. The calm and rational arguments are couched in a very plausible and light narrative. The three male characters are almost archetypes of male attitudes to women. The first is a paternalistic and chauvanistic man's man who seeks mastery over females. His opposite, seemingly, is a chivalrous romantic whose attitude is almost worshipful, but whose attitude toward women is therefore not one of equals but rather as protector of the less capable and ultimately as patronizing. Lastly, the middle ground is provided by a man who is slightly more rational in his estimation of the faculties and abilities of women. A work of fanciful anthropology that, like all anthropology, is ultimately a mirror for our own societal short-comings.
