Quite interesting, and may have helped change my view of the world to consider other people's paradigm's more closely, and realize also that I do not recognize their paradigm at all if I don't know them, so it doesn't pay to feel hurt, shunned or anything else by people you don't know, among many other lessons based on this way of though. Jesus said "before you can remove the mote (speck/splinter) from your neighbor's eye, you must remove the beam (log) from your own eye." I'm currently rereading it and finding a few more insights in my older wiser age.

Good story of first contact with an intelligent species, makes them seem truly alien. As per usual though, suffers from Larry and Jerry's rather dry writing style.

Descriptive, alien first contact in a way I have never heard of. Tribal castes, the aliens society is very interesting, although the human cast is not really Star Trek, just military boring predictable....

Intricate view of an unknown race.. the subtleties of violence that can lie beneathe the surface.. and the weakness of ignorance vs. greed.

I loved the parts about the Moties. The parts about the humans were disappointing.

The classic space opera about the discovery of an asymmetrical, intelligent life form. Great stuff.
