This story is about Kirek. You remember Kirek his psi powers \ are considered the most powerful in the Federaction. He has come back from his wormhole accident injured and isnt quite up to his full protental. And he still has to get back the the Zin world and distroy them before they finish their mission of total distruction of all other worlds. He is back in his body and is now trying to find his why to the world Dakmar. But he is currently stranded on a abandon ship, that Angel wants to sell for scrap. But in the mean time there is another ship that is also trying to get this piece of scap. Angel gets the scrap and that is where she finds Kireck he trys to explain he just needs a ride to the planted that she will be taking to sell the scrap that it is very important that he has to meet someone there. In the meantime the other's come back and now annouce they do not want the scrap but Kereck himself. When she doesnt get the answer as to why they want him she decides to let him stay with them.Even tho she knows the others will not give up easy.
As Kireck is telling her bits and pieces of his famous family and explaining about who he is and how he came to know so much on how to distroy the zin and why. he belives that the perceptive one's had planned all along that angel and he would meet because is seems that she has many if not more of the same psi powers that Kireck has and that it was meant that they both go on this mission together to defect these half machine half animal beings. Angel has her own thoughts on that and on is the fact that he looks pretty good and as long as they can keep things simple maybe they can both get some much needed recreation out of this. She has no intention of getting involved with anything more then a fling.
The characters are great together all of them. the story keeps you wondering what will happen next and you not sure really until the very end if they are going to stay together.
dont miss out on another of ms kearney's travels in space.
keep dreaming

Susan Kearney is one of those authors that, once you read one of her books, you NEED more...immediately, if possible.
The Quest is book 4 of a series, but you don't have to read the series from the beginning to LOVE this book.
Yes, this is a romance, and you love the chemistry right from the start. But, for me, what really brought me into the book (and kept me up reading until 3 A.M.) was the action. There's not a time in which I thought, "Here's a good place to stop and go to bed now." You just need to read one more page... and one more...and one more.
A lot of people have already given a synopsis of story, so I'll just leave you with this:
This book is one of those books that are truly magic. You start to read and you're transported right into another world. This book is an adventure!

Terrific science fiction romance

Captain Angel Taylor knows that her beloved ship The Raven desperately needs preventative maintenance and some major repair so this salvage is critical to her. However, as she brings the booty on board, the Zin demand she hand over the living part of her loot. Apparently Federation Rystani Psi Warrior Kirek hides among her catch from the Zin. Kirek offers Angel a deal she cannot refuse. If she helps him escape, he will lead her to the largest salvage ever, a place where his mind landed when he was caught in an explosion while on the astral plane eight years ago; he has become whole only over the past year.
The Zin threaten to destroy the Federation by overheating the core of each planet. Kirek knows how to prevent pandemic disaster, but the Zin know his psi print and want him dead. He believes she is his and the Federation's enabling angel that will help him defeat the enemy.
The latest science fiction romance in the Kearney universe is a terrific tale that grips the audience from the opening line when Raven First Officer Petroy informs the Captain "we aren't alone" and never slows down until the final alteration with the Zin. The action-packed story line is fun follow as the heroes land in one hot spot after another even as love blossoms between the salvager and the psi. Sub-genre fans will want to read this tale and obtain the previous novels (see THE CHALLENGE, THE DARE, and THE ULTIMATUM) as each is an outstanding stand alone (with minor ties) outer space thriller.

Kirek had once been considered the most powerful psi in the Federation. But eight years ago, while astral projecting, Kirek had been caught in a wormhole explosion. His mind had been blasted out to the far end of the wormhole, all the way into the Zin Galaxy. The Zin are a combination of machines and live beings. They are now threatening everything in the Federation. All the Federation planets' cores will overheat and melt the each planet's crust, killing all. It took Kirek seven years to return and another year to be reintegrated into his mind with all the body machines that had kept him alive. With his return, Kirek brought back a way to stop the Zin; however, only he and a single small ship would be able to accomplish this heavy task. The main problem is that during the astral projection the Zin tagged his psi and labeled him to be a threat. They would recognize Kirek's psi when he got close. Kirek needed to somehow block his psi from the Zin; and no one knows how to do this. Add to this that his psi had been damaged. Kirek can no longer astral project. His power is now limited.
Captain Angel Taylor considers her ship, "The Raven", to be home. The ship is in dire need of repairs and overdo on many checks. Therefore, the salvage she was after was considered very important. Yet she did not expect to find a Rystan warrior hiding aboard the salvage. Even worse, before they are even introduced the Zin attack, insisting she turn over the Rystan named Kirek. Kirek makes Angel a deal; she helps him and he takes her to the biggest salvage haul in Federation history.
***** This is the fourth book in Susan Kearney's series. Each novel is a stand-alone story. You do not have to read any of the previous ones to fully understand all that is happening. You will never feel left adrift. If you HAVE read the previous three stories, you will get a small glimpse into how the previous novels' characters are doing. Also, there is a teenage girl in the middle of this novel that has dreams of farming. Author Susan Kearney only gives a couple pages on this minor character; however, it left me hoping to see more of her in the future. I have high hopes. If you enjoy romantic space journeys, you will adore this novel. My husband has been reading them as well, then loaning the novels to his other male co-workers. So I can honestly tell you that males and females, both, would love this universal series. Highly recommended! *****

The QUEST continues the story of the Rystani Warriors who have settled on Mystique.
Kirek who has a tremendous gift of PSI, has finally returned to his body after 8 yrs of astral travel. When the wormhole was closed in the ULTIMATUM his astral self was thrown into the Zin universe. He has finally returned after investigating the Zin. He has a plan to end the violence and destroy the Zin, but he needs to go there in his physical body. His PSI is damaged but he has set a trap to catch a ride on a salvage ship to Dakmar. There he is to meet a man with the coordinates for a portal into the Zin Universe. Unfortunately his plan goes awry.
Captain Angel Taylor runs a salvage ship and she finds Kerik on the wreck. Angel is very independent, she has been married twice and doesn't trust men. Especially good looking ones who want more than a good time. Drawn to Kerik she cannot allow herself to care for him.
However, as he convinces her to help him reach Dakmar they are attacked by the Kraj. The Kraj work for the Zin and they are determined to find and destroy Kerik. Finally making it to Dakmar, Angel must get her ship refitted, Kerik takes this time to make love to Angel. He doesn't tell her that he is having her ship fitted for the dangerous adventure ahead.
Angel is fit to be tied when she finds out, she has always paid her way and has sworn never to owe anyone. When Kerik and Angel reach a confrontation they discover she has an amazing amount of PSI. Unbelieveably she may have as much or more than Kerik. And with the destruction of Zenon, the Federation Capital, by Zin, Kerik will need all the help he can get, and there is no time to get another ship.
Between fighting her feelings for Kerik and the danger of the Zin Empire, Angel swings from one extreme to another. But Kerik knows she is his destiny.
Entertaining read, with some sizzle. There is more depth to the characters than usual. I enjoyed it, but I have liked all of her last few books.
