This biography is written for early readers. It begins with Eugenie Clark’s earliest memories about her interest in marine life. Many of the vignettes are surprising and funny; they engage and entertain young readers. (One day her grandmother caught her boiling a rat in a pot on the stove in the kitchen. Eugenie wanted to cook it down to the bones so she could examine the bones). Her determination is inspiring and the text includes many facts about marine life and work.

Teaching points: biography study, timeline, fact versus opinion

A disappointingly short read, lacking in detail, but what there was pleased me greatly.

It was an inspiring book about a lady named Eugenie Clark who swam with sharks.
