I really enjoyed this book. This is what I love about reading – you find out, among other things, about other professions, what goes on behind the scenes, how others live – I never have had an idea how films are made and this book provided a real insight into that.. Especially, if it is an ill...

Not really sure how much of this 'diary' was real? Just seemed like the same thing was mentioned, repeatedly. 'MM late ... MM late to set again' etc, etc. 'MM wearing white tight dress' yada, yada. Monroe's house this and that. YAWN.
I tried watching the movie and I just couldn't stay...

I tried watching the movie and I just couldn't stay focused. Michelle Williams as Marilyn? Uhhh, wonder who made this decision?

I expected "My Week with Marilyn", to be interesting and insightful. The author, Colin Clark, divided the book into two parts, but only the first part held my interest. The beginning was about the interactions between the author, (who was an assistant on the set of "The Prince and the Showgirl"), and the actress, Marilyn Monroe, in a very unlikely personal relationship. The details seemed far fetched, and perhaps embellished after the fact. The second part was very factual about the making of the movie, and quite boring, in my opinion. I would imagine that making this novel into a movie would generate interest, but I did not enjoy the book.

I really enjoyed this book. This is what I love about reading – you find out, among other things, about other professions, what goes on behind the scenes, how others live – I never have had an idea how films are made and this book provided a real insight into that.. Especially, if it is an ill conceived script and actors, difficult personalities, and set in the mid fifties. I will watch the Prince, the Showgirl and Me now that I know what went on during the production of the film. The Diaries of the author were dug out years after he wrote them and made for good reading. The week that he ‘spent’ with Marilyn is actually a concentrated period of time (one week) within the overall time frame of the movie production in England – he spends innocent time with her because she has come to trust him as a confidant and ally. It really pointed out her intense insecurities, too many hangers-on, too many pills... Although she was an actress who lit up the screen and stole the show when she showed up! Her lack of formal training in acting, and inability to keep a schedule because of too many pills – just compounded everything negative that could happen... It was a good thimble cap insight to her life.

I love this book. I thought Marilyn was a person who hooked up with guys but no. Marilyn didn't want that. Basically it was the other way around the boys wanted her. Marilyn was an orphan who eventually marries a guy she didn't love just because she wanted to leave the orphanage and as soon as turned 19 she divorced him. When Monroe married this man she called a husband they never talked to each other or loved each other but Monroe was grateful that he married her because she didn’t have to go back to the orphanage. Marilyn reminds me of Betty Boop which is my favorite cartoon! I hope you like this book as much as I liked it. She truly inspires me to become an actress. It doesn’t matter where you came from or how much money you have you just need to set your mind on that goal and you can make your dream come true. Marilyn Monroe was very beautiful but people didn’t see it that way in the movie biz they thought of her as a nobody. And as you can see Marilyn Monroe is now a famous person. She may have died but if I say do you know Marilyn Monroe? 9 out of ten would say yes.

I Love Anything About Marilyn, Lovely Soul. I Think The Marilyn Wanting To Make Love With Colin Anecdote Was Male Bravado Bull Though, She's Not Around To Defend Herself.

Having watched the film I was really curious to read the diaries that the 'true story' was based on. Really enjoyed this collection of Colin Clark's diaries - a facinating insight into film making, Marilyn and also how the other half live. Watching the Prince and Showgirl first on DVD also made a lot of the descriptions of how the film was made more intersting
