“This is an interesting book insomuch much as its contribution to a larger experience. This is a good book. It was adapted into a good movie staring Robin Williams. (Notice the common thread here: both were good.) What is interesting is that the combination of the two seem somehow synergistic in that together a fuller story was told. I have never seen that in any other book-film combination.”
“My least favourite Irving novel. The complicated, twisted characters are all there, reveling in their bizarre-ness. The twist ending is also there; but somewhere along the way, the story just never grabbed me. It was kind of gross at some points, too. I'd recommend "Owen Meany" or "Saving Piggy Sneed" instead.”
“A wonderful book that I CANNOT seem to finish - and I've tried twice - really loved Cider House Rules, though.”
“I always thought it was a true story. absolutely.”
