“I am reading the "The Lady and the Unicorn" and I find an unmistakable similarity in the choice of the subject and the style of narration in the two books.....Readers who have read both the books, please do comment on whether you can also see the similarirty...”
“the best of Pamuk that i have read so far. a thriller set in an unusual setting and the craft used to give a detailed view of the life and loves of illuminated painters.... and the world of manuscript painting. ”
“This is a remarkable book. I was a bit circumspect when I picked up this book because you know reading about arts could be a bit heavy reading for a guy like me who wants his reading pleasures quick and ready. But I really liked the narration style of Orhan Pamuk. I have to confess that I was thoroughly confused during the first three or four chapters. But once you get into the book, you get the feel of it. The chapters I liked best were the chapters in which the illuminators show there characters when they draw the horse as commissioned by the Sultan. The final lines in each chapter were superb analysis into the psyche of the illuminators. Like- I become the fine horse when I am drawing it.”
“I felt the same way about "Snow". Hard to get into, felt a little inadequate as I read, but suddenly it all came clear and I realized I actually loved the book! Guess I'll give My Name is Red a shot. Thanks for the reviews!”
