  “Found this book really compelling. A coming of age story about a girl from the wrong side of Manchester who escapes through her writing. Its beautifully written and extremely realistic especially for those of us who grew up as her contemporaries ( she was born in 1969) Very sad portrayal of an inadequate damaged mother who fell into a series of unsuitable relationships and the impact that had on her daughters. I found the writing very unshowy and real, drawing you into the character. ”
