I listened to the free librivox.org mp3 audiobook version of this work, and enjoyed it from beginning to end.

This is a very modern, thrilling tale which I recommend highly to anyone who enjoys Victoriana, science/fiction, fantasy, and horror. I loved the characters and their methodical battle agaisnt a supernatural enemy.

The biggest surprise for me, however, was how subtly erotic it was. Nobody does sexual tension better than the Victorian writers. And dark, dangerous, repressed sexuality serves this book very well in lending an emotional depth and turmoil.

I also recommend J. Sheridan Lefanu's "Carmilla", which preceded Dracula by 20 years and clearly influenced Stoker's work.
