Something about the uniqueness of this book just really appealed to me. A superhero story written in a literate and skillful way! There's a really excellent contrast of hero-villain campiness and inner monologue that creates multilayered characters you actually end up feeling for. It's an accomplishment I previously thought only Alan Moore could do. Can't wait for the forthcoming movie and sequel book.

It took me about 200 pages to get into it. It was interesting but very slow going. Shows the interesting human side to the characters and their relatable emotions but fails to go that extra distance making it as clever as Watchmen or The Incredibles.

This book is much fun. It's told from alternative perspectives of a super villain attempting to take over the world, and a new heroine who has just joined a super-friends-esque hero team. Delightful, witty, aware of its genre...

A light, breezy pop novel about superheroes battling their arch-nemesis, with viewpoints on both sides. It's like "Watchmen" but without any of the interesting social commentary or moral complexity. There is some interesting satire, but there was room for much more. I didn't enjoy it as much as I thought I would. Entertaining but ultimately forgettable.

More serious than I thought it would be, I felt sorry for most of the "heroes". I thoroughly enjoyed reading all the exposition that is left out of actual comic books, and wondering what exposition would be in the comics I'm currently reading. I was slow getting into it, but the last third gave me that feeling of "I just want to go home and read my book!" I'd be interested to know the perspective of someone who doesn't read comics.

Great fun, especially for comic book fans or, for that matter, anyone who likes to see a story from the point of view of a villain who knows that he has to lose in the end - because that's what happens to villains.

Very good writing. The fight scenes are some of the most vivid since Ender's Game.

I listened to the audiobook version of this book.

The story itself is a very interesting take on your typical Superhero story.

It paints a very real image of superheros - but not in the same sense that NBC's Heroes does. These are STILL comic book heroes (and villains) - complete with spandex outfits, secret identities, apocalyptic world-control schemes, superhero fortresses, etc.

However, this inter-woven story, told by a new SuperHeroine joining a world-famous SuperTeam and a SuperVillain who calls himself Dr. Impossible, covers not just the "typical" superhero story (Dr. Impossible's scheme to take over the world - and the efforts to find him, figure out his plot, and stop him) - but it also covers the rather human element to the stories of the characters.

Fatale has a hard time feeling accepted into The Champions - as the newest member, and something of an outsider to this famous group. Dr. Impossible reveals, in varied reminiscings, his origin - and more than a few of his motivations - such as why, perhaps, he chose the path of the villain.

A great story ,compelling both for it's plot - as well as it's human element.
