whatever be the constraints in my routine, if a book is realy and truly good nothing deters me from 'burning the midninght oil' but this book lacked that something to keep the reader glued to it! it had a good story line, it had ethos and pathos, it had humour and it told some tragic tales but it still lacked in some ways.i dont give up on any book however lousy. this of course isnt. so i will continue and definitely finish it.get back to all of you readers out there. in teh meantime lets hear more of your oinions and suggestions for us avid readers. iao! and take care!

I rarely give up on a book but I'm halfway through and have run out of patience. this book has fascinating characters but too many to keep straight and the plot seems to be going nowhere

an epic novel but a bit slow reading. i've read alost 80% but the thrill of reading is lacking due to the slow narrative. not as gripping and fast moving as "the da "vini code" nor as artfully written as "the city of djinns" or mitch albolm's "tuesdays with morrie", or "the five people you meet in heaven".the simplicity of narrative is easy on the grey cells but incertain places it is lackng in strength of narration. also it is not as contemporary as it wants to be. certain time periods and happenings do not seem to correlate. the first instance of inconsistency that came to my mind is renaming of bombay to mumbai. when did this happen? in 1995? when did the protogonist land at bombay airport? sometime in the 80's? i wish to say to mr. roberts, "hello mr. roberts point to be noted and pondered and answered? you owe it your readers?" but asall in all a readable book. it makes you laugh, weep bitterly, shudder in horror, tremble in fear etc....
