Oskar Schindler, a womanizing German who owned and operated a factory, was not like many German's in his time. While most German's despised Jews, and worshiped Hitler, Schindler would wind up saving thousand's of people from the gas chamber under the pretense of working them in his camps. Schindler would be arrested several times, each time with a worsening degree of treatment. He would move his factory, and make a list known as Schindler's list, and the Jews knew that this was there only hope for survival. Schindler would be proud of the fact that his 2nd factory would not produce one single bullet. This book uses testimony from Schindlerjuden-Schindler's Jew's- to bring to life a courageous man's effort to do what he could do to stop a horrible wrong.

Goes into depth about some of the situations the movie glosses over (i.e. the significance of the gravestones being used as pavement). A story of hope as much as it is of horror.

I loved this book, but I loved the movie even more (even though it was rated R...naughty me!). Very touching, thought provoking and heart wrenching!

A book that everyone needs to reed so they can learn from the past!!! And that never may happen again. I recommend everyone also to reed "And the violins stopped" that book is told by survivors of the holocaust of the gypsi's. What happend to the Jewes people was discusting but what my people had to suffer was even worse.

    Love Elisa

A truly fascinating book. I picked it up for all the wrong reasons but I'm thoroughly satisfied with it. It's more of a narrative document than a book. It tells a tale that video documentaries can only hope to stand up to. And Keneally writes so fluidly.
