Life at Blandings (OMNIBUS)

by P. G. Wodehouse

P.G. Wodehouse entices us into the demesne of Blandings Castle - an apparent paradise where it is eternal high summer, with jolly parties, tea on the lawn and love trysts in the rose garden. But for Clarence, ninth Earl of Emsworth, there is always something to disturb this tranquil scene. (read review)

I like the Blandings series for its characters - it used to take away all stress and leave me in helpless laughter, lost in a world he created for his readers.

It hardly matters if it in fact does exist, or if one can find it - I prefer to belive it is right there and it is enough one can find it in the Wodehouse writings.

This omnibus is a must-read for every book lover on earth, irrespective of whether they have read Wodehouse or not! If you have read Wodehouse, that comment needs no explanation. If you haven't, well, there isn't a finer book to start!

Wodehouse books are not just humour. They are repositories of knowledge. His quotes from Shakespeare and the Bible are so beautiful and appropriate. I am now reading (for the nth time) "Imperial Blandings" a collection of three of his best: Moon Light, Pigs have Wings and Service with a Smile. Lord Emsworth, the Empress, a platoon of formidable Aunts, Freddie, Uncle Galahad and the rest of them give you great company!!. It is indeed a treat!!
