My idea of great autobiography is that it is as compelling as fiction but still honest enough to make me care about the people being written about, which aptly describes Barbara Moss's memoir. The folks who inhabit the pages of this book are believable, and their various stories take us through the gamut of emotional experience. It is a gripping story, expertly told, that keeps us pulling for the girl whose impoverished, chaotic childhood causes both physical and emotional scarring, and...
