I really liked this book mostly because Harrison seems to be someone omitted from the history that I studied. In terms of the story, Harrison struggled but his persistence and love of his trade helped him to persevere. Anyone who cheers for the underdog or the fogotten in history will like this...

Interesting subject - I just didn't like how she wrote the book - repeating the same information over. Either she didn't do a heck of a lot of research on the subject or there just wasn't anything out there.

Fabulous. If you love history and science this is a good book.

The Longitude is a historical story about the need for longitude and the difficulty calculating it.

I thought this was a really interesting book. But then I like history and sailing. But this is really more about the advancement of technology. I liked it.

Sobel tells a good tale about Harrison and his clocks and watches as he doesn't discover something, but devotes a life to perfecting a simple idea that we all take for granted. Another history book about the era of world exploration that reveals a whole new side to the story.

I loved this book. Being a former math teacher, I appreciated how Sobel took a rather mundane topic and brought it to life. I definitely look forward to reading more books by this author.

This is an account of the history of the discovery of longitude and how to measure it. Sobel's writing is clear and engaged my interest. I could keep track of the characters and cared about how it turned out for them.

Entertaining and short story of how we can tell where we are on the planet.
