When Molly Murphy commits a murder in self-defense in her native Ireland, she must find a way to escape to America. She finds a miracle in a young mother who cannot travel due to consumption but must find a way to get her two children to America to their father. Molly travels to America with the children under the mother's name of Kathleen O'Connor but finds that more trouble awaits for her in America than she thought.
