Must read for anyone in education. Are you a fixed mindset or a growth mindset?

One of the best books I have ever read. Not the most challenging, or the most intriguing, or the most exciting, but probably the most insightful--outside of the Bible. An absolute must-read for parents, coaches, teachers, students, leaders, spouses & siblings. Outlines probably the most important, most basic life lesson we all need to understand. I applaud Dr. Dweck for an outstanding contribution!

Provides insight into Dweck's research and proposes that humans are of two different mindsets. It goes on to explain each one in detail and gives real life examples, including some famous people. A surprisingly quick read full of anecdotes as well as suggestions for those professions who primarily deal with people, such as service professions like teaching, coaching, social work. Also gives suggestions as to how you can change your mind if you want to!

Reminded me of Arbinger Institute's "Leadership and Self-Deception", only more generalized and helpful. It really made a difference on how I felt about having my performance critiqued at work and changed a stressful experience into an opportunity for learning. A good read.

Truly a must read for teachers, parents, and the business oriented, though it does speak to everyone. Those searching for a way to find a more meaningful way of approaching their lives and of seeing themselves will surely appreciate this book. It's easy to forget how much of an affect ones outlook/mindset can have on daily life, and this book also shows how we can help children avoid some of those pitfalls.
