“This is the fourth book in the Everworld series. It is told from Jalil's point of view. The four teens continue to seek a way out of Everworld and back home. Not everyone is as hot to rescue Senna as they were before however. Now the kids find themselves in a creepy village where once you enter you can't leave. The village is under the control of Hel, Loki's daughter, and it is hell literally. This is the most intensely violent of the books thus far - a definite 8 on the creep-o-meter.”

The writing is still sort of juvenile considering that the subject matter is rather grown up and gruesome. The story seems to be written at a fifth or sixth grade level and that just seems awfully young. The story continues to be a thrill ride. The foursome find themselves out of one misadventure right into another one. There is little time for character development but it is still fun.”

Loki's daughter Hel, half living and seductive, half dead and putrid, starts drawing our heroes into her underworld. Not appetizing. (And there's even a nice tee shirt transfer of her face in the middle so you can iron her on a shirt. Nasty.)”

I remember reading these books back when I was in about seventh or eighth grade, and despite the years that have gone by I still love them. One of my favorite series of all time. Since I can't remember which books are really better than the others, all the ratings and reviews for this series are going to be the same. Yay laziness. But yes. Applegate did a fantastic job with these books; much better than anything else she had written up to that point.”

This series is for an older teenage audience. The half decaying corpse and half beautiful youthful woman scared and annoyed the hell out of me at the same time. It takes a lot to do that. Although she did catch and hold prisoner the Norse god of thunder, Thor. She gets kudos for that.”
